A Fun Mississauga Summer Itinerary

The month of June signals the start of a new season and one that's gladly welcomed with open arms in chilly Canada, sunny Summer season!

The season for planning vacations, road trips, and long-awaited visits with friends and family are finally here. The good news is that you won't have to look anywhere else for the ultimate Summer experience when almost EVERYTHING that's fun is here in Mississauga!

Sure, Mississauga often gets passed over as a day trip destination from Toronto, but many will agree that it's one of the most underrated destinations in the province. Indeed, there are far too many exciting things to do in 'Sauga to lump this city in with the rest of the Greater Toronto Area!

Add some spontaneity to your itinerary and check out our list of fun activities you can do around Mississauga this Summer!

Get some fresh air at the Riverwood Conservancy

Indeed, Mississauga glistens with gorgeous natural beauty, one that's most highlighted in the summer. For one, the Riverwood Conservancy is a standout from the list, a 150-acre site nestled in the middle of the province.

Here, you can enjoy some time out in nature as the trails through this massive 150-acre nature preserve in the center of the city pass by the shoreline of the Credit River and habitats of nearly 500 animals and plants. You can say it's not your typical conservation area, as the land is part of a charity designed to help educate visitors on environmental protection while also offering a full array of gardens and hiking trails that wind around marshes, creeks, and trees that have been standing for 350 years!

A perfect nature spot to unwind and inhale some fresh Summer air!

Hit the beach at Jack Darling

Canadians long for warmth all year long, and now that it's summertime, a beach trip is most definitely in order! When in Mississauga, head to Jack Darling Memorial Park. The park boasts picnic areas, tennis courts, and a large leash-free zone and is also home to one of the province's favorite beaches, Jack Darling beach!

Although the waterfront is fairly long, you'll find the sand here quite rocky compared to one on a tropical island, but the view from the beaches is SPECTACULAR. You can see the Toronto skyline to the left and the endless blue horizon to the south. It is an ideal place to launch windsurfs, canoes, or kayaks.

The beach is brimming with people during summer, but most stay at a picnic spot and walk to the water occasionally.

Shop, dine and play at Square One

Shopping can be done any time of the year, but the experience is much sweeter in the Summer, wouldn't you agree?

Come out to Square One for some retail therapy and a little break from the sun. The famous Mississauga shopping enclave is Canada's second-largest shopping center with over 2.2 million square feet of retail space, which means the massive retail center has something for everyone and over 60 places to eat and drink during the day at that!

The mall also features The Rec Room, a place to let go, be playful, and experience something new and exciting. The famous hangout spot is Canada's premier eats & entertainment hot spot, boasting Canadian-inspired cuisine, virtual reality, video, redemption games, live entertainment, and more!

A must-visit when in Mississauga, no matter the season!

Paddle around Credit River

You can't enjoy the sunny season without engaging in water sports, so grab your paddle and head out to Credit River for a SUP or kayaking experience of a lifetime!

One of the most vital waterways in Mississauga, the Credit River is a perfect spot to keep yourself cool and active during the warm weather, and paddling this beautiful river is one of the best ways to get outside in the province. One of the best spots to put in your kayak, SUP, or canoe is at the river's mouth, where it empties into Lake Ontario.

Never a complete escapade without a little Summer thrill, wouldn't you agree?

Chase waterfalls at Wahoosh Falls

If you think that Hamilton is the only spot with waterfalls, you couldn't be more wrong! Here in Mississauga is a hidden natural wonder you shouldn't miss!

Say hello to Wahoosh Falls, a 10-foot-tall cascade that's a perfect hangout spot during the warm weather. Although the Mississauga gem doesn't come close to the likes of Tew's Falls, it's still more than you'll find in Toronto. The good news is that you won't have to go on a grueling hike to get there either.

There can't be a more ideal Summer spot than this!
